GENERAL
The "Omicron"-M180 is a time gated Proximity fuze, designed to initiate artillery ammunition at the optimum Height Of Burst (H.O.B.) for maximum effectiveness at the target. The fuze is based on an FMCW radar sensor to provide a constant H.O.B.
independent of target properties, ammunition caliber or firing parameters. The fuze operates in all weather conditions and is highly immune to atmospheric conditions and Electronics Counter-Measures (ECM).
COMPATIBILTY
To be used with all types of HE and WP artillery projectiles of calibers: 105 mm, 155
mm & 203 mm (8") Howitzers, 130 mm & 175 mm guns and 4.2" & 120 mm rifled mortars.
Interchangeable with the following PD fuzes: - M51, M557, M572, M739/A1 and equivalent.
OPERATION MODES
Proximity (PRX) - Detonates projectiles at optimal height above target. Point Detonating (PD) - Detonates projectiles upon impact with target.
BUCKUP
Point detonating back-up on proximity mode.
SAFETY & ARMING
By two independent arming mechanisms (dual safety): Setback force of 50 9 minimum. Spin rate of 1,600 RPM minimum.
Electronic arming:
for PD Mode - 0.5 _ 0.1 seconds
for PRX Mode - 4.1 seconds minimum.
EXPLOSIVE OUTPUT
Booster Pellet - 27 gr. of Comp. CH-6 or A-5.
POWER SUPPLY
Reserve Battery.
TEMPERATURE LIMITS
For Operation - From -40°C to +63°C
For Storage - From -40°C to +70°C
HEIGHT OF BURST
PRX Mode (factory set)
Average of 9.0 m above target.
Other heights of burst upon request.
IMMUNITY
The fuze utilizes an electronic timer (0 to 150 seconds) which arms the circuitry 1.8 seconds before the set time (over-head safety).
The fuze will not be activated by clouds, haze, thunder or sand storms, c
The fuze is immune to Electronic Counter Measures (ECM).
