The EPSILON is a radio proximity fuze, utilizing the Doppler Effect. This electronic ignition device, detonates high explosive ammunition, above the ground, thus increasing the artillery system lethality.
COMPATIBILITY:
Witha ll types of eastern high explosive (HE) projectiles for artillery howitzers and guns as follows:
M139 MOD 1 for 122 MM, 152 MM
M139 MOD 2 for 130 MM

Proximity (PRX)
Point Detonating (PD) - Upon selection (optional).
BACK-UP:
Point detonating back-up on proximity mode.
ARMING:
Mechanical - By two independent arming mechanism:
(a) set-back forces.
(b) Spin.
Electronic - Min of 0.6sec. for electronic arming.
SAFETY FEATURES:
Set-back - Acceleration of 2,000 g min.
Spin - Spin rate of 3,500 RPM min.
Safe Separation Distance (S.S.D.) - 40 m.
Min. Flight Time for Proximity Function - 2.4sec.

IMMUNITY:
The fuzes haev immunity to typical electronic counter-measures.
