Founded in 1969 by Amcor Ltd., AMCORAM Ltd. was originally engaged in
manufacturing components and subassemblies for Israeli military aircraft.
With its capability in the aerospace industry AMCORAM began developing into
a systems house for mechanical, optical and electro-optical systems, as the
company designed, developed, manufactured and marketed products in the
defense area.
Acquired by Aryt Industries Ltd. In 1993, AMCORAM was strengthened in its
engineering capabilities and overall operations by its new-found
association with Reshef Technologies, Ltd.,
another company of the Aryt group operating in the defense market.
AMCORAM's engineering staff is divided among separate speciality teams
devoted to mechanics, electronics, optics and software, enabling the
company to become involved with interdisciplinary projects. At the same
time, purchasing, production and quality control functions have been
improved and updated under the supervision of experienced Reshef management
personnel.
AMCORAM's main products are:
Laser warning systems for AFVs and naval applications
Periscopes
Ballistic drives for tanks
Light tripods for optical apparatus
Tank and other AFV mecanical and optical subassemblies
AMCORAM facilities are situated in two locations: At Or-Yehuda, near Tel
Aviv, where the company has its main offices, and at Sderot, in the
south-central part of the country, where it has mainly production

LASER WARNING SYSTEMS
AMCORAM's LWS-2 is an add-on laser warning system mounted on MBTs
and other armored fighting vehicles (AFVs). It is meant to expand a
vehicle's protection envelope against laser radiation by detecting such
radiation, alerting the vehicle's crew to its existence, and identifying
the radiation source.
The LWS-2 detects laser range finders (LRFs), laser target
designators (LTDs) and IR illumination, and can be tailored to customer
needs. The data provided on the system's monitor screen accurately
indicates the direction of the threat, and whether it is on a horizontal
plane or is coming from a high elevation. This laser warning system also
gives an audio alert through the AFV's regular communications system.
The LWS-2 can recallany one of the last ten threats it has detected.
The most recent one is that displayed on the monitor screen.
The LWS -2 includes a command and control display (on the monitor
screen), a data processing unit, and three sensor heads. The sensor heads
are mounted ont he AFV's turret, 120 apart from one another. Thus,
theyprovide the AFV with all around, 360 coverage. In the way of up and
down coverage the sensor heads can detect threats from -25 below the
horizon up to 90 above the AFV.

Besides its warning function, the LWS-2
can trigger counter-measures such as smoke launchers, jamming systems and
hard-kill devices. Moreover, it will complement standard and specific
training systems that are concerned with laser sources.
AMCORAM produces the LWS-3 for naval applications.
